  1. I think the most important quality is a good attitude. When you have a good attitude, you do your job better, make customers happier, and everyone else around you has a more positive outlook and do better at their job. A really important quality that I think should be on the top ten is leadership. Leadership is very important for employers because when your a leader, you have more of a chance to be promoted and can lead others to success. I dont think any of those top ten qualities should be left off. Also I'm not able to comment on others since I'm the first one to comment.

  2. The most important quality is a good attitude because when you bring positive energy around people they enjoy that so they stick around you more. When you have a good attitude you satisfy customers and they will want to come back because they liked your service. Even a smile to a co-worker can count as having a good attitude. The article has good qualities that employers look for in teens. There is none that should be taken off.

I agree with Mark L. because Leadership is very important for employers because when your a leader, you have more chances to be promoted and can lead others to success. To be a true leader you have to have all the qualities decribed in the article.

  3. i think the most important on the list are; self motivation, good manners, reliability, communicates well, and willingness to learn.
I feel if someone isnt willing to be at work or learn a new task from their employer, then they dont need to be on the staff.
just like any sport, if a player is not coachable, then they are no use to the coach or the team...

  4. I think the three most important ones were reliability, willingness to learn, and positive attitude. As long as you always try hardest and are willing to do what ever is necessary to get the job done, your employer will like having you work at their business. having a positive attitude is a benefit for your employer, customers, and yourself. If you go to work with a positive attitude you will enjoy the work more than someone who comes with a negative attitude.

I agree with mark, leadership is a good quality to have, plus if you constantly show your employer that you have leadership qualities and you are excelling at your work you might get promoted!

I also agree with Daisy that none of the qualities should be taken off. They are all good qualities to obtain, and they are excellent practice for future jobs that you want to apply for after college.

  5. I think the most important one is reliability. It's extremely important that your employer can rely on you to do your best at work or get to work on time. That is what they look for if they are considering hiring someone.
i agree with MeganA, willingness to learn is really important so that you can grow and become better at your job.

  6. Reliability, is the most important to me because inorder for them to hire you, they have to know that you are able and comitted to coming to work when you are scheduled. plus that looks good for you and the compant you are working for. so when yu do or if you deside to leave that job, the job your tring to get has a great refferance to look back on.
and i agree with MARK also inorder to enjoy your job you have to have a great attitude.
and i aree with MEGAN, you have to respect yourself as an empolyee and the job.

  7. I also agree with Briggwillis that Reliability, is the most important because in order for the employers to hire you, they have to know that you are able and comitted to doing your job.

  8. i think that Reliability is the quality that employers like to see the most. they expect that when you're hired, you can show up for the hours you wrote on your application. if you can't ever be there on time or come to work at all, how are they gonna get any use out of you?

also i agree with mark because if you have a bad attitude then how are you gonna sell anything or get any customers for whatever your job may be?

also, i agree with megan. being self motivated is what got me through alot of long shifts at work that i didn't want to be there for. you have to know what you're working for and just get through the day and make the job fun.

  9. Reading the article I would say that the most important skills are a possitive attitude and self motivation. without these most teens would porbly use there parents for getting money. A person with a great attitude can do great with their job which employers love to see, and with self motivation i think that will keep the teen hired by them wanting to go to work and apply themselves. I think the other skills should stay becuase they are important as well,.

Mark...I agree with having leadership is a key skill to be successful and useful for teens to adapt to being young.

Briggwillis...I agree that reliability is a major one too since employers need to see that committment the teen has for their job.

  10. I believe the most important quality is punctuality. Teen's by far are not punctual at all really. Quite a few straggle into class 2 or 3 minute's AFTER the tardy bell has rung. Teen's don't understand how important it is to be on time to class or your job. Five minutes late look's horrible on you. It's good to be on time and superbly good to be a little bit early by about 5 minute's and then try to punch-in at your exact time. I do feel that a teen also need's to be a mature professional at work, even if it is scooping ice cream or bagging groceries, it make's the company have a good image.

I also agree with Sam with having a positive attitude and being self motivated. Without those two qualities' for a job, you really shouldn't work there.

And also Mark with having a good attitude at work. Being a teen today has it's wonderful joy's of crap we have to put up with which prepare's us for the real world. But when you are at work, everything else need's to be let go so you can do your job appropriately without a pouting face on.

  11. To me the most important quality is being positive, because if you are being positive most likely everything you do will be as well. Especially if you start your day out positive everything that comes in your way may not effect your day. Everything listed are qualities i would consider in hiring someone and nothing seems missing.

I agree with Bryan W. because showing you are late to class shows how strongly you really don't care about your education.

I also agree with Bridget W. because showing you are reliable at work can tell people you are committed in everything you do.

  12. I think that when making a first impression for a job interview a teen should always be assertive. Assertiveness shows a person in charge that you are willing to get what you want. Also, punctuality, there is nothing worse than being late for an interview, it makes a horrible first impression and basically tells the interviewer that you do not care enough about the job to even make it on time.

I agree with atran419, positivity is a very important quality, if you go in with a positive attitude it shows.

I also agree with Megan A, willingness to learn is huge when it comes to the business world. You have to be accepting of new ideas in order to make innovative ones.

  13. By reading this article I would have to say that the most important attributes that a teen should have are mental strenght, professionalism as well as respect to adults, and I will also have to add determination. Employers want to see a concrete individual willing to do the best at any job/opportunity presented.

I will have to agree with aisaac11236 and Sam_Van. Both make very clear yet simple points which are a postive attitude and punctuality, since they are key factors also to be more likely employed.

  15. i think reliability is important because you have to be able to rely on your pears to be able to do there job so that every one may be successful in a buisness that may take team work.

  16. I think reliability is the most important because it is vital for the employer to know they can count on the employee at all times. If everyone in the business works together to maintain reliability, the business should run smoothly.

Cole D- I agree, attitude is critical as well. Anyone that has a bad attitude doesnt deserve to work.

Ashley Tran- I agree with you completely. If there is a negative person working, it can prevent customers from buying anything.

  17. I think to be ambitious is the most important because teens are usually known for being lazy. Therefore being ambitious makes you stand out and more likely to get the job. Wanting to learn more and striving to be your best will make you more successful in life.
i agree with CARRiEMCMANN you have to be able to rely on you employer to get the job done and be there on time.

  19. I was surprised that personal perfection was not on the list because when it comes to the work force and things you want in general, you must be the best you can be to surpass the weaker ones around you. I was always told "If there's something you want, the only thing stopping you from getting it is you."

I agree with Shannon also because we all have laziness in us and that comes from being teenagers but its up to us to focus and get our stuff done.

I also agree with Cole, like he said a good attitude is vital to positive performance at your workplace or anywhere else for that matter.

  20. The most important quality for a teen employee is a positive attitude. When you have a positive attitude every one else does as well. You will make a difference just by smiling, making conversation when necessary, and just being happy.

I agree with Mark when he says being a leader is a great quality as well. I do because every team needs a leader to be successful.

  23. I agree wih K.Clark and Tien. I also believe that a positive attitude is the most important part for being hired! Most of everything on the list can be taught or corrected, but if you do not have a positive attitude about things, you will not get hired.
I also agree with Bryan, because I have personally worked with someone who was constantly late and had no punctiality, which eventually was the reason for them losing their job.

I think everything listed is very true and should stay on the list. If you have a little bit of every quality on the list of 10 things, you are more guarenteed to recieve a job.
One thing also i think may be added is having a good first impression. Everyday you are constantly meeting new people and working with people and if you can not leave a good impression with people, then they may not want to work with you.

  25. Bieng trustworthy I think is the most important qualitie of a employee. For your boss to know that they can trust on you to get the job done is a good thing. Gaining trust from someone is not easy either, it takes a while before someone can trust you, but one wrong move and all the trust someone has in you could go away.

I agree with K.Clark having a positive attitude is important. If you have a positive attitude its going to make you and your team to be more productive and work will be easier when everyone gets along.

sreynolds has a good point about bieng ambitious. Most teens are lazy but when your getting interviewd and they can tell your a hard worker then its going to be easier for you to get a job.

  26. I think being responsible is the main key to being hired as a teen these days. You want to be able to show them that you are more mature for your age. That well your willing to go above and beyond the call of duty and that your willing to fulfill the task.

I agree with Kclark, attitude is usually the key to working. Without that optomistic attitude, your not going to prove to any one your the one for the job.

I agree with Rico, all of the characteristics listed by him are all important. Being a successful worker involves being focused and allowing the co workers to trust you that you will be able to pull your part on the job.

  28. I think reliabilty and punctuality are key qualities in getting hired. A boss wants someone who will always show up on time and when they are scheduled. They don't want someone to flake out at the last minute. And I think those both tie into being trustworthy. You have to take charge and do what you're asked.

I agree with Kayla Clark. No one is going to hire you if all you can bring to work is a negative attitude. You need to be as happy as possible regardless of how your day is going.

I also agree with Shannon Reynolds. Teens are definitely stereotyped as being lazy and careless. And if you're ambitious, people might take notice and reward you for your hard work.

  29. I think the most important quality for a teen employee is having a positive "can do" attitude. If you go to work and not have that positive attitude towards yourself and others, you look like your slacking off. I also think that respect, compassion, integrity and teamwork should be on there. With these things you could be successful in your job.

  30. I think having a positive attitude is the most important. Who wants to be around someone that is complaining or depressed all the time? It coves all the other areas of what it means to be a good employee.

  31. I think that having a positive attitude, being reliable, having self motivation, and being well groomed are the most important for an employer to seek in a potential employee. Because if you have a negative attitude it is possible for customers to file a complaint, and being reliable is important not only in the work place but at school, home, when dealing with friends/relatives. and you have to beable to motivate yourself partially cause an employer may not like trying to motivate you time and time again, and i dont thik anybody would like to recieve food from sombody that may be visually grugy. I dont think that i could add anymore to the list it seems to cover all of them.

I agree with Taylor Hansen that reliablity is an important quality and trait, but its an important quality in everyday life.

  37. I think all of the qualities are important but one that really stands out is having a good first impression. It makes total sense that you can't redo your first impression of yourself when meeting someone for the first time. If you walk into a job interview or your first day on the job with a positive attitude will make you look like a better applicant or employee. You will also get more respect that way, especially if you are assertive and know what you are being asked to accomplish. I also think employees should keep their personal life out of the working environment. For example, if you've been having a bad day before your shift at work, then don't take it out on the customer's by giving off a bad attitude. No matter what the circumstance with your personal problems, you should still be competant and complete your job with the right attitude because you are the one representing the store and your boss.

I agree with Jacob Garza because being trustworthy is a big quality to have as an employee. Your boss needs to feel the comfort of knowing they can trust you to get your job done, no matter what.

I agree with MeganA because I also think that if someone isn't willing to be a reliable worker or isn't willing to learn something new then they shouldn't be hired/working on the staff.
